Underwater clouds are fleeting formations of bubbles that rise to the surface of the ocean, but not before gracefully painting unique clouds-like shapes at the base of a wave. I discovered these beautiful forms while surfing after a storm in 2018. After a dive off my surfboard, I was pulled into the underbelly of a wave. Just as I held onto my breath to rise, I looked up to find myself in the midst of the effervescent clouds. The works were created originally in chalk pastel with hand-pressed pigment from France and later have been reproduced in oil paint on canvas.
